Make an operating-space map
Begin with a clear, cool counter and an unplugged appliance. If you have not bought it, use confirmed overall dimensions as a provisional outline and mark every unknown. Do not operate the appliance to test whether heat affects a cabinet or surface.
- Identify the exact model and market. A similar product name, UK manual or another size in a retailer variation is not interchangeable with your US model. Record the model number and manual revision.
- Check the supporting material. Read the placement section before measuring. A surface described as sturdy or attractive is not necessarily permitted. For example, the Instant Mini4QT manual excludes wood, Formica and laminate as well as other combustible surfaces. Do not assume a mat overrides a manufacturer prohibition.
- Mark the closed body. Record width left-to-right, depth front-to-back and height from the support surface. Include the handle and other protrusions. If a source labels length without showing its direction, resolve that ambiguity instead of relabeling it.
- Add the manual's directional ventilation space. Measure from the appliance to nearby walls, objects and overhead surfaces as the manual directs. Keep vents clear. A stated overhead distance does not cancel separate restrictions on cabinets or heat-sensitive materials.
- Check the full opening and serving path. With the appliance cool and unplugged, establish the room needed to remove the basket or open the door and withdraw accessories. Allow a safe grip and a heat-resistant resting place. This measurement is separate from rear ventilation.
- Check power and nearby hazards. Follow the cord and outlet instructions; keep the appliance away from water and other heat sources. Do not move a hot appliance just to reach a convenient outlet.
Five models, different placement rules
The summaries below preserve distinctions in the retrieved US guides. They are not replacements for the complete manuals. Source date: 15 October 2026.
COSORI Lite Mini 2.1-Quart / CAF-LI211-AUS
Leave 5 inches behind and above. Keep enough front room to remove the basket; avoid steam-sensitive walls and cupboards. Side clearance is not numerically specified.
Use a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface away from liquids and heat. Keep the top clear during use and avoid contact with flammable material.

Leave at least 5 inches above and around all sides. Keep vents clear. This is ventilation space, not a verified basket-removal allowance.
Countertop only: stable, level and non-combustible. The manual prohibits butcher block, wood, Formica, laminate and other combustible surfaces; do not use on a stove or atop another appliance.
Manual: surface: printed 2 / PDF 4; clearance: printed 12 / PDF 14; also printed 3 / PDF 5. Manufacturer-linked US manual; local PDF recovered and safety pages visually checked.

Allow 5 inches behind and above; keep front space free to remove the basket. No numerical side clearance is given.
Use a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface away from liquids, heat and flammable materials. Keep vents and the top clear; avoid steam-sensitive walls and cupboards.
Manual: surface: printed 5 / PDF 5; clearance: printed 10 / PDF 10. Manufacturer-linked and manufacturer-hosted US manual; independently retrieved by Atlas.

Keep rear air vents unobstructed; hot air and steam exit there. The linked manual does not give numeric exterior clearances. Ask the manufacturer before planning a constrained location; unknown is not zero.
Keep away from hot burners and heated ovens. Do not leave operating unattended. The manual specifies a flat, heat-proof resting surface for the removed hot pan; it does not establish an approved countertop-material list.

Do not cover the oven or let it touch flammable material, including walls and overhead cabinets. The linked manual does not give numeric exterior clearances. Ask the manufacturer before planning a constrained location; unknown is not zero.
The manual warns against contact with flammable surroundings, including overhead cabinets. Keep away from burners and heated ovens; do not leave operating unattended. A countertop-material approval list is not supplied.

COSORI specifies a rear and overhead distance; Instant specifies clearance above and around all sides; both selected COSORI models leave some directions without a numerical allowance. Hamilton Beach 35073 requires unobstructed rear vents; 31220 warns against contact with flammable surroundings, including overhead cabinets. Applying one model's number to every appliance would erase those differences.
For a preliminary layout, draw the confirmed body and mark the directions with explicit distances. Leave unspecified directions labeled “verify,” then add the basket or door movement separately. Do not advertise that drawing as a manufacturer-certified operating envelope.
A storage fit is not an operating fit
A shelf or appliance garage may hold a cooled, unplugged appliance while remaining unsuitable for cooking. Body height alone never establishes permission to operate in an appliance garage. Follow each model's cooling instructions before handling or putting it away.
Measure the narrowest opening, shelf depth, handle projection and route into the storage space. Check shelf capacity and whether you can lift the unit safely. Keep the manufacturer's intended orientation; a calculator's rotated rectangle is not permission to run an appliance sideways or reorient its vents.
Use three outcomes
- Unsuitable location: the material, overhead arrangement or available space conflicts with the manual. Choose another location or appliance.
- Needs verification: dimensions conflict, handle scope is missing or movement/clearance is unresolved. Do not call it a fit.
- Candidate for a physical check: the documented measurements and restrictions appear compatible. Verify the actual appliance and all instructions before use; this article does not certify the location.
The five-model comparison keeps source conflicts visible and distinguishes product identity from fit approval. The site's existing general air-fryer guide can remain the starting point for capacity and daily-use considerations; this article supplies the model-specific measuring follow-up.
